My smoke test was a real one

Postby WK2Y » Fri Aug 18, 2017 9:33 pm

I got everything all wired up and I think because either I put the red hot lead on the wrong side of the switch, or the cap touched the regulator, I let the smoke out of the capacitor next to the upper switch.

I suspect other parts may have also been damaged. The cap and the batteries got really hot, really fast. I've attached a picture. If anyone sees something, let me know. I'm not sure I'll be able to repair before Monday but may give it a shot. 73, Bob WK2Y
