About Us

K.C. Kerby-Patel received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2003, 2005, and 2009, respectively. Since fall 2014 she has been an Assistant Professor in the Engineering Department at UMass Boston, where her research focuses on applied electromagnetics problems. Prior to joining the faculty at UMass Boston, she was a Lead Communications Engineer in the Applied Electromagnetics department at the MITRE Corporation, where she worked on a variety of radar and communications projects. Her current research in applied electromagnetics includes high impedance surfaces, low profile antennas, crowdsourced measurement of LF skywave propagation, and link signature keying. She was awarded the DARPA Young Faculty Award in 2015.
